The League records contain annual reports, records of state and national conventions, correspondence, newsletters, newspaper clippings, minutes and other documents relating to the program activities of the League. The most recent accession consists mostly of the study and action programs conducted by the Iowa League. There are also records from twenty-one local chapters, representing different cities and counties across Iowa.

The League of Women Voters of Iowa was founded in 1920 as a state-level branch of the National League of Women Voters.
